..."What do you want to be when you grow up?"...
Oh my Mommy heart sighed with happiness. I looked down into those big, golden brown eyes looking up at me with so much sweet innocence and thought, "What do I say?" Sure, I've been asked this question before, but never just randomly, out of thin air.
"Well Mommy, what do you want to be?" He wasn't going to let it go. I pulled him close and said, "Mommy is doing exactly what she dreamed of doing when she was your age. I'm a Mommy. And a helper. I always wanted to be a Mommy and have a family to take care of. And now I have a business where I can help other Mommies take good care of their families too." He flashed that big goofy grin at me and said, "Mommy, that's great! I'm so proud of you! You know what I wanna be? A dinosaur!"
All I could do was hug him tightly as I choked back the tears mixed with laughter. That one simple question plunged me into reflection long after that sweet moment was over. For the first time in a long time, I was proud of the answer I had to give to that question. Since I was a little girl, I was most happy when I was helping my own Mother at home or others in my community alongside my Dad. After becoming a mother myself, helping and empowering other amazing women and mothers in my life became paramount. After all, we are only as strong as our village! I never thought that my simple passion for helping others could be channeled in so many different amazing ways throughout my life.
One of the biggest challenges I faced as a Mom was conquering the nutrition challenge as my boys moved past baby and toddlerhood and into the picky eating stages. I had always made their food as babies, but wanted better options for their older palates. They prefer smooth textures and I could find nothing at the store that was just fruits and vegetables blended, other than the baby food aisle. So I went back to what I knew and started making blends again. It was a BIG hit and I couldn't believe it was that easy to solve a nutrition problem that I had spent so much time and energy trying to remedy. At first, it was just my boys eating the blends, but soon, my husband and I were eating them as well! It's just such an easy way to get your daily fruits and veggies.
In speaking to other families, I know they are facing the same challenge. We want and need nutrition to be easy, so we take a vitamin or 20, and then wonder if we really are getting the nutrients we are deficient in, all while trying to eat better and exercise regularly. I created Fraiche to solve just this problem. We are the least processed fruit and veggie blends because we do not use pasteurization. We do not source the produce until your order is placed and our sources are local farms. The produce we use has not been sitting on a store shelf losing its natural nutrients. We ensure that our farms are organic from seed, to soil, to pest control, to harvest. We cook gently with steam, purée to the right consistency, and then freeze. That's it! No additives, fillers, or preservatives.
Fraiche has given me peace of mind when it comes to my family's nutrition. It gives me so much happiness to be able to finally share that peace of mind with you and help other families conquer the nutrition challenge. Thank you for your support of our local, small business and we look forward to serving your family delicious fruit and veggie blends that pack a powerful nutrition punch!
